Wayward Voices
In August, The Sống Collective presented a second iteration of our devised theater piece, Collective Stories. This time in partnership with The Wayward Artists in Orange County, CA and Ujima in Buffalo, NY. The digital production is rooted in the process of Free Southern Theatre’s storytelling circles which brings together individuals to share and create works inspired by memories, personal experiences, and connection via community.
In this iteration, The Sống Collective explores the relationship between the Vietnamese and Black communities, facilitating conversations surrounding the history of solidarity between communities, anti-Blackness, and coalition building.
The artists featured were Zion Pham, Lộc “Leo” Nguyễn, ayla xuân chi sullivan, and Cindy Trinh. It was facilitated by thuan nguyen, a community organizer, based in Los Angeles, CA.
